Excelsior Springs Chamber Awards Morgansites
Annually the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce awards local businesses for their work throughout the year, including Business of the Year (Excelsior Springs Hospital), Citizen of the Year (Melinda Mehaffy, City of Excelsior Springs), and Chamber Member of the Year (Janet Blauvelt, Blauvelt Law Firm). This year, the Chamber made an additional award to recognize Morgansites as the COVID Community Champion of the Year.
In a Facebook post on December 22, 2020, the Excelsior Springs Chamber said the following:
“Yesterday we posted our 3 annual Business Awards that we award to our nominees. Today we did something else. While this award does not fall in any of our “normal” business award categories we felt it was too important to overlook, especially since nothing about 2020 has been normal.
Today we awarded Morgansites.com a COVID Community Champion of the Year award. This family owned business helped many businesses in our community during a critical time of uncertainty. When CCPHD Emergency Health Orders took effect in March, it put a tremendous strain on all of our small businesses. It didn’t take long for the struggle to survive and remain relevant begin to unfold, as those who weren’t deemed essential had to close their doors.
Small businesses that did not have access to provide online sales were hardest hit. Morgansites came in to help almost immediately and offered several months of free online cart services and websites to those who had no online presence or a way to receive online orders. We feel this generous act saved many of our small businesses and mom/pop shops during this unprecedented time. Thank you for all you do to keep our community thriving. We are proud to award Morgansites with COVID Community Champion of the Year!”
Morgansites owner Joe Morgan responded saying, “We were so glad to be in a position to help during this uncertain time. In all, we were able to put over 15 businesses online. We are honored to be awarded alongside the other awardees and appreciate the service the Chamber provides the business community.”
Morgansites offered website development at no cost to small businesses, as well as offered free hosting until businesses were able to gain online revenue. There were over 15 businesses that took advantage of the offer.
